Printer Settings

Connect a receipt printer and set it as the default so receipts print.

Your device needs a printer connected and chosen as the default before it will print receipts. Until then a red Printer Not Connected banner sits across the top of every screen.

1. Open Printer settings

Tap More in the bottom bar, then Printer under Settings. The status on the right tells you where you stand.

2. Find the printer

The app looks for printers on your network as soon as the screen opens.

  1. Wait a few seconds for the search to finish. Available Printers shows the number found.

  2. If nothing appears, check the printer is switched on and on the same Wi-Fi as this device, then tap Refresh Printer.

Note: The same printer can appear twice, once by its network address and once by its model name. They are the same machine, so connecting either is fine.

3. Connect it

Tap Connect next to the printer. It changes to a green tick and reads Connected.

4. Set the default printer

Connecting alone is not enough. You must also tell the app which printer to use.

  1. Tap Select printer at the top of the screen.

  2. Tap the printer you want in the list. A tick appears next to it.

  3. Close the list.

Default Printer now shows the printer with a green dot, and the red banner disappears.

If the red banner is still there after connecting, it is almost always because no default printer has been chosen. Go back to step 4.

5. Test it

Tap Test Print at the bottom. A test slip comes out of the printer, which confirms the paper, the connection, and the print width are all right before you serve a customer.

Tip: To send kitchen tickets to a preparation station printer as well, see Order Manager Settings.
