Cash Drawer

Open a cash drawer with a starting float so you can take cash payments.

The cash drawer tracks the physical money at your counter. Opening one is what switches cash payments on: until you do, the app will not let you take cash.

1. Check the drawer

On the Home screen, look at the Cash Drawer tile. An orange Inactive badge means no drawer is open.

If you try to take a cash payment without a drawer, the payment screen shows an orange No cash drawer chip, and choosing Cash stops you with You can't accept cash payments until the starting balance is recorded. Tap Open Cash Drawer in that message to come straight here.

2. Enter the starting cash

Tap the Cash Drawer tile. The Starting Cash Balance screen opens and asks you to enter the cash you currently have before starting the cash payment. If you do not have any cash, enter 0.

  1. Count the money already in the drawer.

  2. Type that figure on the number pad. If the drawer is empty, enter 0.

  3. The Opening cash balance button turns blue once you have entered an amount.

Count carefully. This figure is what the end of day count is measured against, so a wrong number here shows up later as a discrepancy.

3. Open the drawer

Tap Opening cash balance. The confirmation records:

  • Register: which till this drawer belongs to.

  • Date and Open Time: when the drawer was opened.

  • Opened by: your name.

  • Opening Cash Balance: the figure you counted.

The screen confirms that cash tracking is now active. Tap Go to Home. The Inactive badge is gone and cash payments now work.

4. Cash in and cash out during the day

Use a cash entry whenever money moves in or out of the drawer for a reason other than a sale, for example paying a delivery in cash or adding a float.

  1. Open the Cash Drawer from the Home screen.

  2. Choose a cash entry and record the amount and the reason.

5. Close the drawer

  1. Count the money in the drawer at the end of your shift.

  2. Enter the counted figure to close the drawer.

  3. If the counted cash does not match what the app expected, you will be asked to leave a note explaining the difference.

Tip: No Sale in the cart opens the drawer without recording a sale, for example to give change.
