A reward is something members swap points for, such as a free drink or 20% off. Every reward has two parts: a promotion, which gives the discount at the till, and the reward, which sets the points cost, who can see it and when. You build the promotion first.
This guide builds a Free drink: 100 points for one free drink, open to every member.
1. Create the promotion
Go to Promotions › New Promotion and create a promotion called Free drink.
Add its rules and action as for any promotion. For a free drink: a rule on the Drinks category and an action of 100% off one drink. Toppings stay chargeable. See How to Create a New Promotion.
Under Activation type, choose Multiple promotion codes and paste your codes, one per line. Each redemption uses one code, and that code is what the member shows at the counter.
Save, then Submit and Publish the promotion.
2. Describe the reward
Go to Rewards › Rewards and click New Reward.
Name is for your team. Display name is what members see.
Fill in Description, Conditions, Instructions and Terms and conditions. Members read these, so write one condition or instruction per line.
Add Images for the reward catalogue.
3. Set the cost, who can see it, and when
Reward type: Promotion Code.
Promotion: pick Free drink. Only promotions with multiple codes appear here.
Cost 100 and Currency POINTS. Points are taken when the member taps Redeem.
Target is required. Choose Tier and pick every tier to offer the reward to all members.
Visibility is when the reward shows in the catalogue. Activity is when it can be redeemed. You can show a reward before it can be redeemed.
4. Offer a reward to some members only
For an exclusive offer, pick only those tiers under Target. In the example, Members 20% off costs 150 points and only Silver and Gold members can see it.
Tip: Choose Segment under Target to offer a reward to a group, such as members with a birthday this month. See Segments.
5. Publish the reward
Click Save. The reward is saved as Draft.
Open the ⋯ menu, choose Submit and confirm with Yes. The reward is now Pending.
Open the ⋯ menu again, choose Publish and confirm with Yes. Only Published rewards can be redeemed.
The Rewards list shows each reward's status and No. of redemptions.
Tip: To switch a reward off without deleting it, choose Unpublish from the ⋯ menu.
6. Before members redeem
Note: A member can redeem a reward only once they are in one of its target tiers or segments. These update once a day, so a new member can redeem from the next day.
Note: When the promotion's codes run out, redemption stops and no points are taken. Paste more codes into the promotion to top it up.
Note: At the counter, staff apply the member's code in the POS or the Merchant App. See those guides for the steps.
