How to Create Menu Categories

Organize your menu by creating categories (ex: Drinks, Appetizers, Pizza, etc.) and subcategories (ex: Smoothies, Wings, New York Pizzas, etc.) with taxonomies to structure your menu for easy navigation.

By following these precise instructions, you will be able to efficiently set up and organize your menu categories for a seamless user experience.

2. Click "Products"

Access the product section.

Click 'Products'

3. Click "Taxonomies"

Navigate to the taxonomies tab.

Click 'Taxonomies'

4. Click "New Taxonomy"

Create a new taxonomy.

Click 'New Taxonomy'

5. Input Product Info: Name, Slug and Code

Input Mandatory Taxonomy Info. Provide a name for the taxonomy, in this case, we want to create menu categories so the name "Categories" is appropriate. In the Slug field type the name of your new taxonomy, in this case, "categories". In the Code field type the name of your new taxonomy, in this case, "categories".

Input Product Info: Name, Slug and Code

6. Click "Save"

Save the changes made and navigate to Taxonomies page.

Click 'Save'

7. Click newly created Taxonomy named "Categories"

After entering the newly created Taxonomy you can now create new categories (Drinks, Appetizers, Pizza, etc.)

Click newly created Taxonomy named 'Categories'

8. Click "New Taxon"

Add a new Taxon, this will be the name of the new Category you'd like to add (Drinks, Appetizers, Pizza, etc.).

Click 'New Taxon'

9. Input Taxon Info: Name, Slug, Code, Description

10. Set the Display Order

Enter a number in the Display Order field to control where this category appears in your menu. The lower the number, the earlier the category is shown — so the most first category should be set to 1, with subsequent categories numbered sequentially.

11. Click "Save"

Save the changes made.

Click 'Save'
